A little more about me: owning a business

So since I showed you a glimpse of my planner, I thought I'd tell you a little bit of what I do for a living.  I am a co owner of an online bakery. What does an online bakery mean? It means a customer contacts us through our website or social media to place an order versus walking into a store front. This eliminates overhead cost and ensures our customers are receiving the freshest product as we are a bake to order company. We are anti boxed cakes; we do everything from scratch. there is so much more than the baking and cake decorating that goes into running an online bakery. Here are a few examples of my daily duties to ensure we are running smoothly:

Calendar management: We have to be organized with our calendar.  We  do not want to overbook any particular day and we need to ensure  every customer that places an order is actually put on our calendar.

Inventory: We are constantly checking inventory.  Of course for all of our baking products :eggs, milk, flour, sugar etc. But also other needed items such as pans, cake boards, cakes boxes, frosting dyes, etc.   Being organized in inventory helps as well.

Email communication: Being that we are an online business, great communication is key for us.  We need to ensure we are up to date on emails and respond in a timely fashion.

Marketing: Our main source of marketing is social media. We keep our friends/followers up to date with our latest promotions and photos of our latest work.  Photo's of our work really bring in a lot of new orders as well as new customers.

Website management: Keeping our website up to date is really important as we direct customers to it constantly.  It is usually the first impression a new customer will have of us, so making sure it is beautiful yet simple to use is also important. If you want to check out our website click here.

These are just a few of my main duties.  There is so much more that goes into running a successful business.  Below is a few photos of our work; take a look and enjoy!
